Working and living in Qatar

Post by Abu Daniel on 2010-08-24, 10:22

Assalamualaikum,

Salam friends,

You can call me Abu Daniel, sebab Daniel nama anak saya. InsyaAllah saya akan ke Qatar untuk bekerja di Ras Laffan for RasGas selepas Hari Raya Aidilfitri nanti.

Saya nak tanyakan beberapa soalan, untuk kawan-kawan yg sudi menjawabnya:

1. Saya ditawarkan renewable contract selama 7 bulan. Adakah terdapat kemungkinan untuk ditawarkan a permanent position later on? Or contract period yg lebih panjang? Saya amat harapkan mereka akan renew contract saya nanti.

Terima kasih.

Abu Daniel.

Assalamualaikum Abu Daniel..

1- Pasal contract tu..kenapa 7 bulan je?..kat sini mmg ada case (malaysian) contract sambung and ada jugak case contract yg tak sambung..kemungkinan2 tu semua nya ada..bagi saya kalau saudara sekarang ni kerja kat Petronas/shell or any big O&G companies saya rasa rugi kalau amik offer tu..maybe saudara stay a bit longer at present company and try another Q-companies (QP, QGas etc) after a few year.. masa tu carila yg permenant atau long term contract..bukan apa sebab contract tu kejab sgt..takut dia x sambung jadi plak case yg di kejar x dpt yg di kendong tercicir...

2- First, Offer dia tu bachelor ke family package?. Kalau bachelor mmg susah sket nak bawak family..utk wife nak dapat kerja pun ada case yg berbeza2 gak...ada yg dtg2 je terus dpt kerja and ada yg cari2 sampai sudah x dpt2..bergantung pada rezeki masing2lah..in my case, my wife dekat 7 bulan gak dia mencari sebelum dapat kerja kat sini..

3- Ask around dptkan seberapa byk pendapat dari kawan2..pas tu timbang2la sendiri..

wassalam.

Wassalam Tenggiri,

Terima kasih for your advice. Smile

Saya kerja O&G tapi bukan the big five co spt Petronas atau Shell.

Dah tak tahan dah bila dah sedekad berkhidmat pun msh mcm tu. Company Melayu tu tapi mereka lebih suka naikkan 'orang lain' wpun orang kita pun berkebolehan. Sad
Saya pun dah tender resignation dr company lama and I admit, will not miss my old company, but only miss my good work colleagues and friends sahaja.

Saya dah apply O&G di M'sia tapi for my particular field, tak byk kat Mesia yg amik so kena cari rezeki di luar. About my wife punye work tu, insyaAllah if ada rezeki, boleh cari untuk di sana juga.

Thank you once again. Selamat Hari Raya dan Maaf Zahir Batin!

Abu Daniel.

So Abu,

Hows life in Doha thus far?
Hope everything is OK... is there any difficulties you might want to share?

Salamz,

Sorry long time no see, no internet at home. Ni kat Waha Club in Al-Khor Community Center area, so ada internet sekejap.

So far the most susah part was sebab no transport, nasib baik the recruitment agency hantar a driver to work so okaylah. Once dah ada kereta, memang no hal lah.

I brought my wife and kid sekali so nasib baik bawa some extra cash for makan2. First week dapat hotel in Doha with breakfast and internet, so dpt cari rumah from there. Found a small villa in Al-Khor, tapi share with other people lah, but kitchen and bathroom not shared lah, only the common living room area.

One thing I found, kat Al Khor lah, byk LIPAS! If I knew, sure bawa ubat cockroach from back at home tp sini ada spray like Baygone, which can deter the lipas for a short while lah.

The first week was hard, because takde kereta, but now dah 2 weeks here, semakin okay juga. Just make sure bawa some extra cash, sunglasses, topi, sunblock, cadar katil and sarung bantal and selimut (for rumah sewa) and ubat gegat or cockroach traps ... Very Happy

Yeah my case is similar to kshams. But I am more on financial / banking industries.

Abu Daniel, congrats on your employment. Bukan senang nak dpt offer tu. Some people been trying more than 5 years (like my case).
