Skrg nih Petrol Station 30km radius dari border dah x dibenarkan jual minyak kat kereta non-malaysian. Kita tengoklah mcmana penguatkuasaan dibuat. Dgr cerita banyak pam minyak dkt JB milik kerabat Johor. Kalau kereta s'pore x dibenarkan isi minyak maka berkuranganlah income tokey pam minyak tu...

It's about time government impose such regulation. Those station owner still selling petrol to foreign registration cars are traitors to Malaysia that only think for themselves and not their children's future.

Latest news:
- "Petrol stations 50km radius from borders are disallowed from selling petrol to foreign vehicles (e.g. whole of Johor)".
- "Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Shahrir Samad said the move, aimed at plugging loopholes in the current subsidy system, was decided during an anti-inflation committee meeting yesterday".

I think the decision by our YB Minister is a rash and rushed judgement. Looks more like an 'attention-grabber' rather than a well thought out plan.

Although it is true that our Government is effectively subsidising petrol for these foreign vehicles, a total ban would also be impractical (it used to be limited to 20 litres/foreign vehicle).

Points to ponder:
- we also rely on these vehicle owners for our tourism and therefore foreign exchange influx
- foreign cars travelling beyond the 50km radius would still be allowed to fill up their vehicles (back to square one)
- etc. etc.

What we need is a wholesome system that effectively and efficiently avoids foreign vehicles blindly benefiting from our petrol subsidy.

The subsidy in the subsidised petrol/ diesel is taxpayers' money.
Who're the taxpayers ? Aren't we ?

Woooppsss.....we don't have to pay Msian income tax now.

PETALING JAYA: The Government should set a different petrol price for foreign-registered cars instead of banning them from filling petrol within 50km of the border, said Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek.

The former MP for Labis said the Government should consider this plan until a new price was determined as foreign cars should continue to have freedom to pump petrol in Johor Baru.

Stressing that the city was the centre of economic activities, Dr Chua said the decision was illogical and did not match its foreign investment strategy.

“Its main economic income comes from Singaporeans. About 50,000 to 100,000 Singaporeans travel to and from Malaysia. During weekends, there are about 80,000 to 100,000 Singaporeans who come to Johor Baru to spend,” he said yesterday.

He said while foreigners should not enjoy the same petrol subsidy as Malaysians, the government’s decision should not affect foreign investment or the tourism industry.

Larangan kenderaan asing dibatal
Source : http://www.utusan.com.my/utusan/info.asp?y=2008&dt=0605&pub=Utusan_Malaysia&sec=Dalam_Negeri&pg=dn_06.htm

'by the way', walaupun petrol murah kat sini tapi dengarnya kualiti petrol (juga 'additive' nye) teramatlah teruk hingga boleh menjejaskan prestasi enjin kenderaan.
