25 years of working in the same company, and at the end of the day, organization have to let people go, atas alasan economic crisis, downturn, macam2 lagi alasan...
where's the loyalty in that?
mana2 skang nie the word loyalty is too "loosely" given by organization...
Organization force feed these "values" to employees, but at the end of the day... employees got screwed...

1 week in the "freezer", a few surat takziah... then tanam..
duit juta2 lam a/c pun tak guna gaks... rumah puluh2 bijik tak guna gaks... bini2... opsss... heehhee
syarikat anytime leh dapatkan penganti...

we only have to be loyal to this one organization... FAMILY...

In the case of Petronas though, once you leave the company, sorry ...... you would never be accepted back into the company.
Wonder when they are going to change this definition of 'loyalty' when other oil giants welcome the return of their ex-staff who would bring more knowledge and expertise gained from elsewhere.

Semoga dengan CEO yang baru, Petronas lebih maju dan berjaya disamping mengharumkan nama Malaysia dimata dunia.

I used to handle HR in one of JV company with Petronas... tiap2 bulan time nak print payslip... sakit hati dok tengok...
expat keje 9-5... on the dot cabut... yang Msian nie... kul 8-9 malam lum tentu balik lagi...
and some of the expat tak tau apa keje yg derang buat... ramai gaks engineer Msia yang dok komplen...
tapi apakan daya... Rizi cuma Kulikutif...

At least kalaulah Msian firm boleh bayar gaji locals setara ngan expat (coz buat keja sama) pun dah kira ok kan ?

Living in the uneven grounds...but at the same time, a lot of Malaysian companies get multi million dollar contracts.

Even though these companies get multi-million dollar contracts ............ almost every where, we share the same story. Msian firms tend to pay a lot more to expats.

Few months before I came here, one of ex schoolmate yang sekarang jadi Helicopter Pilot kat Kertih merintih coz depa dibayar a lot cheaper compared ngan expats ...... keja sama je ngan dia orang. Dia kata, kalaulah beza perks tak ketara sangat tak pe, unfortunately banyak Bro. Tension member. Bila dia initiate untuk dapatkan sokongan dari semua local pilots untuk approach his management, depa chop dia 'bermasalah'.

So .......... it goes on and on.

Nampak gayanya betullah salah satu tip yang Chian pernah terbaca dari sorang yang so called 'berjaya' sebelum ni. "Expect life as not always be fair. Learn to accept it and deal with it".

Don't ever hope you will get paid higher in Malaysia than the expats. It is only here I found that locals are paid higher. After giving it a thought, that is just one of their ways to get their own people to 'work', or at least datang kerja.

We don't have that problem back home. Sorang resign, berduyun-duyun lagi datang mintak kerja. So how? There is no reason to pay locals higher than the expat. As for the expats, they get higher wages as that is the only way to get them to come & work in Malaysia.

Even when our beloved Petronas lost their employees, they didn't raise the salary, cuma bagi elaun saja (which may be withdrawn at any time). The fact of the matter is, selagi manpower supply is more than the demand, they can do whatever their fancy. Afterall, it is a business entity.

Sampai lah satu tahap nanti bila masa rakyat Malaysia semuanya dah financially independent, then maybe they will do what these people over here are doing.

Will that ever happen???

I still remember what Datuk Rahim once told a group of us : "If you decide to leave Petronas and join them, what you will get is extra Dollars & Cents, that's it. You will never find self accomplishment, neither self empowerment, not even career progression, no self development and leadership roles."
I could not digest his words then. But today...I fully appreciate what he said.

That's why I fully support your proposal on last Monday so that people like you can return and tell the young ones ........... what you have gone through
